Looking Back on the Journey
Twenty-one years — it is hard to believe how much time has passed since I first set out on this journey. When I started Dodici, I had a vision — to create something meaningful, to build something that would last. I never imagined just how much it would shape me in return. Over the years, I have grown alongside the business, navigating challenges, celebrating victories, and learning lessons that only time and experience could teach.
Reaching this milestone is more than just another year in business; it is a moment to pause, to reflect, to appreciate. Without reflection, the days turn into months, the months into years, and the significance of the journey gets lost. Celebrating this moment reminds me of how far I have come, how much I have learned, and how deeply grateful I am for those who have been part of it.
There were times when it felt overwhelming when the pressures of running a business weighed heavily on me. But every challenge has brought growth, every setback has carried a lesson, and every success has reinforced the passion that first inspired me to start. This business is not just about what I do — it is about the relationships built, the trust earned, and the impact made.
Lessons That Have Shaped Me
When I first started, I had a dream to have my own business by the age of 40. I made it happen at 39. The transition from corporate life to entrepreneurship was surprisingly sudden, taking just six months, but those six months were filled with determination, clarity, and an unwavering belief in what I was setting out to do.
Partnerships came and went. Some seemed like the perfect fit at the time but eventually took different paths. Others were deeply meaningful, lasting longer, shaping not just the business but my personal growth as well. Team dynamics shifted too. Having a large group in the beginning came with added pressures — ensuring everyone had work, maintaining high standards, and balancing the demands of both leadership and service. In time, I realised that success was not defined by the size of the team but by the quality of the relationships and the care put into every client interaction.
I once thought that the ultimate goal was to build something big and sell it, but I came to understand that this business was never just about the work, but rather the people. My clients chose to work with me because of the trust we built together. That trust is not something that can simply be transferred to someone else. It is personal, meaningful, and what has given this business its longevity.
Finding Balance and Moving Forward
Year 17 and 18 were particularly difficult. Burnout crept in, reminding me that I cannot pour from an empty cup. I learned, yet again, that self-care is not a luxury — it is a necessity. Slowing down, reflecting, and prioritising well-being became essential. I realised that when I took care of myself first, I could show up better for my clients, my team, and my business.
Education and learning have never felt like a burden. Delivering a client engagement that I could be proud of has required constant growth, continuous learning, and an openness to change. Every new accreditation and skill has been a step forward — not just in business but in personal fulfilment.
The Road Ahead
Since 2019, I have made intentional changes. Slowing down to make thoughtful decisions— challenging norms, stepping out of comfort zones, and staying committed to my unique path. I have learned to manage my energy wisely and to prioritise the things that truly matter.
Much of my time over the last 21 years has focused on one-on-one executive interactions, and it has certainly been fulfilling to be able to contribute in some small way to the growth of these individuals. Team coaching, up until fairly recently, was mainly the domain of some of my colleagues, with me in a supporting role. However, during Covid, companies made an undeniable effort to improve team dynamics within their organisations. Therefore, I pivoted to take on more team coaching assignments, and I have found the experience captivating. The excitement that I feel when working with teams to resolve their challenges or to strive towards a common purpose is undeniable. I therefore look forward to the future with renewed energy and enthusiasm.
I feel energised by the possibilities. There are new challenges to take on and exciting opportunities to explore. Growth and innovation remain a priority—whether through expanding Dodici’s services or adapting to new markets. What gives me confidence is the strong foundation we’ve built over the years—trusting relationships with clients, a solid reputation and a commitment to delivering meaningful work.
Learning and growth has always been central to this journey, and I see every challenge as a chance to improve. Moving forward, I will continue to bring the same passion, energy, and resilience that has carried me this far—driving me forward into the next chapter. Twenty-one years have passed, but the story is far from over. I move forward with gratitude for the past and anticipation for what lies ahead.
